Making Blood

In one of our media lessons we used some instructions and ingredience to make edible blood that we could use for our film openings. We used 3 different recipes that all included different ingredience, such as; flour, red food colouring, tomato ketchup, golden syrup etc. Once we made all three we decided that the first recipe was the best for us as it was the right consistancy and the right colour.

Recipe 1 - Realistic Syrup Blood (edible)
-This method had the right consistancy as it was not too runny and when applyed onto the skin it will stay and not run off, however will run enough to give the effect that its dripping. The colour was very realistic as it was not too red it had a darker element to it, we did this by adding blue and green food colouring.

Recipe 2-Simple Red Blood (edible)
Method 2 is made from water and food colouring therefore the liquid was far too runny and wasn't very good on the skin as it didn't show up clearly, however it worked well when you splat it onto something as the liquid was thin so had a good effect.

Recipe 3-Chocolate blood (edible)
Method 3 involved coco powder therefore the mixture was quite brown and thick meaning it taste of chocolate. It was too thick to splat onto a surface as it didn't separate enough and just dripped.
